Broome fell to the top seeded Mohawk Valley, 5-0, in the Region III Women’s Soccer Championship game played in Herkimer on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks, currently the NJCAA’s 3rd ranked team in the nation, put up 4 goals in the first half while the Hornets ran into a brick wall. Broome couldn’t find that initial goal to get them started in either half. The defense held their own in the second half giving up only one goal but the offensive struggles and the Hawks’ defense throughout the contest proved to be too much for the Hornets.

Avery Kenyon and Arianna Michitti were both named to the All-Tournament Team. Dana Stepp, Grace Cawley, Quinn Miller and Michitti were named to the All-Region Team at the awards ceremony.

The Hornets finished the season with a 10-4 record, with three of the four loses coming from teams that were nationally ranked.
