May 6 @ 11:00 am - 11:50 am

Break The Stigma: Mental Health Awareness Month

Please join us  for Pete’s Story, an intimate presentation and discussion about a young man whose struggle with bipolar disorder led to his taking his own life.

Date: May 6, 2024
Time: 11 a.m.-11:50 a.m.
Location: Ice Center Classroom 148

Joel and Robin Vermaat are life-long residents of the Southern Tier. Their son, Peter, and daughter, Jennifer, are graduates of Chenango Forks and both attended SUNY Broome. Their primary goal in presenting Pete’s Story is to provide a unique opportunity to learn about Bipolar Disorder and the stigma of mental illness by introducing them to Pete, his life and his struggle. It is their hope that Pete’s Story will raise awareness and equip others should they ever find themselves, a friend or a family member in harm’s way.
