SUNY Broome women's track and field team attended the Cortland Classic at SUNY Cortland

The women’s track and field team attended the Cortland Classic at SUNY Cortland over the weekend.

The team saw one member qualify for the NJCAA Region III Championship, another member qualify for the NJCAA National Championship, and another member achieve four personal-best results.

Aja Jackson ran the 1,500 meter run in 5:14.76, which qualified her for both the Regional and National meets. She also ran the 400 meter run in 1:02.56. This time set a personal record, a new school record, and met both the Regional and National qualification standards. Finally, Jackson ran the 200 meter dash in 29.38 seconds, good for a Regionals qualification.

Ava Schiff qualified for Regionals in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.57 seconds. She logged a time of 18.54 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles. Schiff also reached 3.82 meters in the long jump and 8.11 meters in the shot put.

Finally, Riley Precourt was a key to the team’s success by logging four personal-bests over the weekend. Precourt notched personal records in the javelin, shot put, 200 meter dash, and 400 meter run.

She reached 17.01 meters in the javelin and 5.09 meters in the shot put. Her 200 meter dash was completed in 32.56 seconds, and she ran the 400 meter in 1:14.14. Precourt also achieved 3.29 meters in the long jump.

The team will next attend the NJCAA Region III Championship meet, taking place on May 3 and 4.
