Culinary Arts students Jewelia Ralston and Emani Douglas accompanied by Chef Instructor Victoria Tompkins traveled to SUNY Erie Community College on March 2 for the American Culinary Federation (ACF) North East Region Qualifier.

Jewelia Ralston received a gold medal and overall highest score in the Student Pastry Chef category at the North East Qualifier.She prepared a brownie tart with toasted banana meringue, coconut almond crumble, coconut lime sorbet, tropical fruit salsa, banana ganache and tangerine gel.
Jewelia will be moving on to compete for the ACF Student Pastry Chef of the Year Award at Nationals in Phoenix, AZ July 14-18, 2024.
Emani Douglas received a silver medal for Student Chef of the Year at the North East Qualifier and second highest overall score.The dish Emani prepared was a Trinidad jerk pork loin, curry braised pork rib, pelau rice croquette, sautéed vegetables, pineapple chutney and callaloo puree.
Both Jewelia and Emani dedicated about 100 hours outside of class time preparing for this competition.
