This week was filled with an array of recruitment events for the SUNY Broome admissions crew, who spent their time at events on- and off-campus, participating in virtual conferences, and gearing up for some of the season’s annual heavy hitters.

On Monday, admissions counselors welcomed a group of twenty seniors from Newark Valley High School for an on-campus Instant Admit event. This event was a fantastic opportunity for admissions counselors to not only showcase everything that SUNY Broome’s academic programs and student support services have to offer, but also to collaborate with students to discuss career pathways and future plans. Over 20 students from Newark Valley applied and were accepted to SUNY Broome that morning, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming them on campus next fall.

On Tuesday, a group of students from DeRuyter Central School came to campus for a group visit for an event similar to, but on a smaller scale, than the Instant Admit the day before. This visit allowed students to experience the SUNY Broome campus, learn more about the SUNY Broome student experience, and enjoy lunch in our dining hall.

Additionally, Margaret Sullivan traveled for recruitment visits on Thursday, visiting Afton and Bainbridge-Guilford High Schools to meet with students at their own schools. Extending our efforts beyond national borders, Susan Wellington, the admissions office’s specialist in international admission processes, participated in a virtual meet and greet through Education USA, which gave our office the chance to connect with college advisors in East and South Africa.

As you may be aware, one of our biggest events, the Fall Open House, is taking place this Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Though the last several months have included our efforts in assembling this event, this week in particular was crunch time for confirming last-minute details and ensuring that everything and everyone is ready to welcome prospective students to campus on Saturday. We look forward to seeing you there, too!

Would you like to speak to Admissions regarding your program or department? We would love to connect with you! Each Wednesday, we are hosting “Information Wednesdays” in the Wales Office, where campus partners are invited to speak with the department so that we can learn more about your program, any upcoming events, highlights, and partnership opportunities.

If you are interested, you can sign up online at SUNY Broome Information Wednesdays.
