Five students from the EVE 215 Special Event Interior Design who are also member of the Hospitality Club went to New York City to participate in the New York Fashion Week. The Hospitality Programs Department Chair, Maria Montemagno accompanied them as they participated in this amazing experience. They traveled to the Angel Orensanz in Manhattan to work with Art Hearts Fashion on New York Fashion Week. Arts Hearts Fashion is the leading platform dedicated to bringing innovative designers and artists to the forefront of fashion week. Over 30 international & Celebrity Couture designers gathered to create a tantalizing experience on the runway.
Students discovered the fascinating world of event planning, where artistry, creativity, and spatial aesthetics came together to create an unforgettable experience. They witnessed how interior design influenced emotions and experiences in the event space. Students were able to apply principles of spatial design and its importance to space utilization through the layout of the chairs in comparison to the runway. In addition to working with the setup, event layout, and flow, students had the opportunity to work directly with the designers and models to create an overall amazing event.
This experience was possible because Professor Montemagno has secured a partnership between SUNY Broome Hospitality Programs Department and Lovegevity, a Career, Technical, and Entrepreneurial education course provider to accredited colleges and universities. This partnership allows students to learn from celebrity planners such as David Tutera and Kevin Lee.
