If you are an African-American female student between the ages of 25 and 50 and currently in a developmental education course at SUNY Broome, or if you have previously taken and/or dropped a developmental education course, this study is for you.

Research studies indicate that African-American women who take developmental education courses in a community college setting aren’t likely to remain and attain their degree. The study is intended to find out why these students strop developmental education courses, and why they may not ultimately remain and attain their degrees.

The study will consist of a voluntary face-to-face interview for 60 minutes or less in a private room on campus. During this interview, the researcher will ask questions about your experiences in these courses and your opinion of placement, as well as your college success, persistence, and for tips to help future students.  All interview responses will be confidential.

You may decline participation in the study at any time during the interview. To thank you for your willingness to participate, you will be given a Price Chopper gift certificate valued at $10.

If you would like to take part in this study, please email R.Roberts6600@o365.ncu.edu or call/text (518) 210-2894.
