SUNY Broome volleyball team in their "Dig pink" match to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The volleyball team wrapped up their regular season with a 12-0 record after defeating Corning CC 3-0 in their ‘Dig Pink’ match to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team and spectators wore pink to show their support for the cause. The Hornets took all three sets from the Red Barons by scores of 25-8, 25-17 and 25-15. Broome won an amazing 36 sets and lost just 3 all year, sweeping nine of their opponents in the 2021 campaign and finishes as the top team in Region III.

Katherine Bennorth (Wanaque, NJ) led the team with 7 kills on the night and posted an outstanding hitting percentage of .538. Teammate Melissa Carden (Vestal) added 6 kills to the match with a .545 hitting percentage and a total of 5 blocks. Middle Blocker Alexandra Bachura (Johnson City) also contributed 5 blocks to the match and Savannah Davis (Union-Endicott) put up 6 digs in the ‘Dig Pink’ match. Mackenzie Struble (Owego) had an amazing game totaling 21 assists, 5 kills with a .714 hitting percentage, and led the team with 5 service aces.

SUNY Broome heads into post-season play as the #1 seed at Niagara County CC this coming weekend for the Region III Championships.
