Dr. Scott Kane
(Interim) Associate Vice President and Dean of Students
Welcome Dr. Scott Kane to the Hornet family!
Dr. Kane is a member of The Registry, an organization of retired higher education professionals who serve in a variety of capacities at institutions needing interim executives. Dr. Kane began his higher education career as an Area Coordinator in Residence Life at Carnegie Mellon University and worked his way up the Student Affairs ladder serving at a variety of institutions as a Chief Student Affairs Officer. Serving as a Dean of Students is not new to him!
He brings a wealth of experiences to our community and Division from student and faculty advocacy, policy development, compliance, teaching college success skills, assessment and accreditation, to name a few. He will also serve as Chair of the search committee for the permanent AVP/Dean.
A SUNY Plattsburg undergrad in Mathematics and Computer Science, he earned his master’s in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from Kansas State University and Doctorate from University of Maryland in Higher Education.
Dr. Kane’s office is located in the Old Sciences building in the Dean of Students suite.
