SUNY Broome men's track and field team competed in the Cortland Classic at SUNY Cortland

The men’s track and field team competed in the Cortland Classic at SUNY Cortland over the weekend.

The team succeed to the tune of setting five new school records with a weekend filled with distinguished individual and team performances.

David Akulis reached 1.87 meters in the high jump. Yuri Brich ran the 100 meter dash in 11.67 seconds which set a personal record, set a new school record, and qualified Brich for the NJCAA Region III Championship meet.

Thomas Eccleston finished the 110 meter hurdles in 16.65 seconds and earned 1.73 meters in the high jump. Cole Farley ran the 800 meter run in 2:14.05, which is a season-best time and qualifies him for Regionals as well.

Brandon Hirst reached a season-best in the 100 meter dash with 12.32 seconds. Dandre James reached his season-best time in the 100 meter dash as well, with 11.72 seconds. James set a personal record and a new school record in the long jump with 6.32 meters. He also reached 12.04 meters in the triple jump.

John Miller recorded a distance of 25.38 meters in the javelin and 28.62 meters in the discus. Jordan Thomas ran the 200 meter dash in 27.17 seconds.

Connor Vredenburgh set a personal record and a new school record in the javelin with 38.62 meters. He also set a personal record and new school record in the discus with 35.75 meters.

Nathaniel Wojcik qualified for Regionals with a season-best time of 11.76 seconds in the 100 meter dash. He reached 5.66 meters in the long jump. Wojcik also logged a new school record in the 200 meter dash with 24.36 seconds, which qualified him for Regionals.

The team of Wojcik, James, Hirst, and Eccleston ran the 4×100 meter relay in 46.05 seconds which set a new school record, breaking the record just set last weekend.

All in all, three members of the team became the latest qualifiers for the NJCAA Region 3 Championship meet later this season.

It is the Regional meet that next awaits the Hornets, on May 3 and 4.
