A Great Opportunity for All New, First-Time College Students to Get Started
“Jumpstart Your Education with SUNY Broome”. $500 for New Students!
SUNY Broome and The BCC Foundation have partnered to provide a new source of financial support to new students. The new Jumpstart Scholarship program will ensure a minimum of $500 in funding for all new, first-time, matriculated students to help offset the cost of tuition and/or related college expenses.
The partnership comes as a result of recent polls and studies showing that many students are struggling financially, especially after the effects of the pandemic. The college wanted to provide all prospective new students a chance to rediscover the opportunities and value that SUNY Broome provides. A significant amount of aid is also available for both full and part time students.
“Every student deserves to have a jump start to pursue their education, especially in times such as these. One thing we have learned in the past year, is that it is critical for students to have access to a high-quality public education and keep on course to succeed. We are fortunate to have the BCC Foundation to help close the gaps to fund the pursuit of education. The Foundation provides more than $1.5 million per year in financial support for our students, faculty and campus. We cannot thank the Foundation enough for stepping up to assist with this new initiative.” said Dr. Kevin E. Drumm, President of SUNY Broome Community College.
SUNY Broome offers students with the best possible start, whether it’s an opportunity to study a critical skilled trade and directly enter the workforce, or the ability to take advantage of dozens of incredible transfer agreements with institutions throughout the state and beyond. This scholarship makes this start more feasible for so many in our community.
“The Foundation’s top priority and mission is and always has been to support students. Assisting students with financial support that they need to be successful and complete their education is only possible because of the generous support of our donors. The Jumpstart Program will ensure that all qualified students, regardless of financial need, can get a minimum of $500 to assist with the costs to attend SUNY Broome,” said Cathy Abashian Williams, Executive Director of the BCC Foundation.
