Broome picked up their third straight win in a rain-shortened contest against Monroe CC by a score of 5-4 on Thursday afternoon at the BAGSAI Softball Complex. The game was called in the bottom of the fifth inning due to field conditions and several rain delays.

The Tribunes jumped out in front in the top of the first after Amber Gerringer hit a two-run shot over the left field fence followed by a single and an error, giving the visitors a 3-0. It was after that third run when Jenna Gaisford settled in and retired the next four batters by way of strikeouts. In all, the righty from Oneonta struck out nine batters. Broome came up with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning after Brianna Ramstine singled, went to second on a pass ball and Aryn Bicksler drove her home wth her first hit of the day. The score remained 3-1 until the bottom of the third and Ramstine led off the inning with a line drive over right center making it 3-2. Bicksler followed that up with her second hit of the day, this one a hard hit double, and Jacqualine Bigelow drove her in with a single to right. Maine-Endwell grad Leah Carlini plated Bigelow for the third run of the inning. Monroe tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the fifth inning only to be answered by Broome when Brooke Ladd was hit by a pitch and scored off back-to-back singles by Carlini and Keira Warwick.

Gaisford earned the win in the circle, going five innings, giving up four hits and striking out nine.

The Hornets are scheduled to play Erie CC in Buffalo this Saturday with game one of the doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 pm.
