It’s been yet another full week for admissions counselors at SUNY Broome! Between Fall Open House, hosting groups on campus, and traveling to off-campus events and recruitment opportunities, the team has been as hard at work as ever.

In addition to events during the week, the Fall Open House we hosted last Saturday was a huge success. Over 350 attendees were welcomed to campus that day to meet with faculty and staff about academic programs and student services; tour specialized experiential learning spaces, the Student Village, and campus as a whole; and enjoy a free lunch courtesy of American Dining Creations. We look forward to doing it all again in April already!

The annual Windsor College Express, one of the department’s biggest events and a major collaboration with local partners, took place on Monday morning. The event gave over 70 students the opportunity to learn more about SUNY Broome itself, as well as our Student Activities and Athletics departments, to discuss career pathways and program options with counselors, and to be admitted instantly to SUNY Broome for Fall 2023! Later that day, admissions counselors attended the Veterans Expo at the Visions Arena downtown for the opportunity to meet with local veterans and discuss how SUNY Broome can help support members of our military. With microcredentials, certificates, and our strong history in career and technical training, and more, we are proud to be able to offer educational opportunities to veterans looking to bolster or start a new career as civilians.

Throughout the week, recruitment visits off campus brought admissions representatives to South Kortright, Greene, Oxford, and Sherburne-Earlville. Meeting with high school students where they’re at is a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to share what SUNY Broome has to offer with students throughout the state. On top of normal recruitment events, a visit to Owego Free Academy included an Instant Admissions event, providing another 16 college seniors with instant admission to SUNY Broome.

Group visits to campus this week included Kingsbridge Heights Community Center, who brought 40 high school students from the Bronx to meet with admissions counselors and learn more about how SUNY Broome can be a great next step after high school graduation. In addition, we also hosted 35 local Chenango Valley high school students for an Instant Admit on campus. If you’ve been keeping count, that’s over 100 instantly admitted students this week alone!

Would you like to speak to Admissions regarding your program or department? We would love to connect with you! Each Wednesday, we are hosting “Information Wednesdays” in the Wales Office, where campus partners are invited to speak with the department so that we can learn more about your program, any upcoming events, highlights, and partnership opportunities.

If you are interested, you can sign up online at SUNY Broome Information Wednesdays.
