I am pleased to announce that Michael Stamets has accepted the position of Associate Dean for Hospitality and the CEC. Michael will begin his tenure on Tuesday, September 7.
Michael has served as Associate Professor for the School of Hotel, Culinary Arts, and Tourism at SUNY Schenectady for the past nine years. During his tenure he developed new programming for a Mobile Food Service program, led several teams in culinary competitions, chaired the ACF accreditation team (receiving exemplary recognition from the ACF) and program review teams. He also served as a tri-chair for the Achieving the Dream initiative and served as the team facilitator for the Guided Pathways project.
Mr. Stamets has served as the President, and is currently serving as Vice President, of the American Culinary Federation Capital District Central New York. Michael is an American Culinary Federation Certified Culinary Judge, and he serves as Team Advisor for the Fort Drum Culinary Team US Army. Mr. Stamets was the Team Chef for the Regional Culinary Team/New York in the Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany in February 2020 where he received a Bronze Medal in Culinary Competition.
Michael also brings experience as the Director of Culinary Operations for the New Scotland Group and has served in organizations as both Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine. I hope you will join me in giving Michael a warm welcome when he arrives next week.
