The men’s soccer team dropped its season opener at home to Jefferson, 7-1.
The Hornets scored first in the match with a beautiful shot by Lucas Cottrell. The Jefferson offensive attack was up for the challenge however, quickly responding to the Cottrell goal to even the score at 1-1. The Cannoneers would add three more goals before the final horn sounded on the first half, heading into halftime with a 4-1 lead.
The offensive success continued in the second half for Jefferson. The Cannoneers scored three additional times to arrive at a final score of 7-1. Jefferson out-shot the Hornets 17-10 in the contest.
Dean Patterson turned in 10 saves in goal for Broome on the day.
The Hornets will look to rebound against Mohawk Valley CC when they travel to take on the Hawks on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
