SUNY Broome Men's Cross Country Earns Second Place At MSAC Championships

The men’s cross country team finished in second place at the 2024 Mid-State Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.

The meet was hosted by Finger Lakes CC and it was a 5K race for both the men and the women.

Joseph Chermak led the Hornets with a 5th place finish overall and a time of 20:16.0. By securing a top-7 finish in the race, Chermak was awarded with MSAC All-Conference honors.

Just three places behind Chermak was Zavien Rouhana, who finished 8th overall with a time of 20:59.2, just missing the top-7 threshold for an All-Conference designation.

Later on in the race, SUNY Broome’s #3, #4, and #5 runners finished back-to-back-to-back. First was Jacob Zajdel who secured 15th place with a time of 25:31.3, next was Lucas McPeak in 16th place with a time of 25:51.3, and Demetrius Wilson Jr. rounded it out in 17th place with a time of 27:26.1.
