The men’s soccer team fell to Jamestown CC on Saturday afternoon by a score of 1-0. The match saw both teams with five shots on goal in an evenly played first half, with neither the Hornets or the Jayhawks able to find the back of the net.

After a scoreless first half the Jayhawk’s Alex Watt scored the game’s lone goal in the 77th minute on a quick counter attack from 20 yards away to sting the Hornets. Despite the Hornets holding the majority of possession in the second half of the match, the result was the same as the first half for the host team. Eric Arduino, Mateo Lata and Daniel Martinez were largely responsible for controlling the ball in the second half while Yuri Brich led the Hornets with 4 four shots on goal.

The heart-breaking loss dropped Broome to 1-4-0 on the season while Jamestown improved to 4-1-1 in Region III contests. The Hornets look to snap their losing streak this Wednesday against Erie CC in Buffalo, scheduled for a 3:00 pm start.
