SUNY Broome Foundation presents 2023 Student Awards Recognition Reception

The SUNY Broome Foundation will hold its Student Awards Recognition Reception (commonly referred to as the Scholarship Reception) on Tuesday, May 9, at SUNY Broome’s Ice Center.

The event begins at 5:00 pm with check-in and photos with donors and scholarship recipients. The all-campus awards presentation starts at 5:30 pm.

Division Awards for our four academic divisions begin at 6:15 pm. SUNY Broome will recognize:

  • Business and Professional Studies students in the West Gym
  • Health Science majors in the Ice Center
  • Liberal Arts students in the Angelo Zuccolo Little Theatre
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics majors in the Richard E. Baldwin Gym.

The Foundation will award over 300 merit-based scholarships and recognize more than 250 students during the event. These scholarship awards usually range from $500 to full tuition coverage.

More than 400 individuals are expected to attend, including students and their families, donors, representatives from local corporations and organizations, SUNY Broome Trustees, faculty and staff, and SUNY Broome Foundation Board members.

During the fiscal year of 2021-2022, The Foundation awarded over $1.5 million in student support, which included a record-breaking number of student scholarships and grants-in-aid. Grants-in-aid, which are awarded to students through the Financial Aid office, do not require students to apply for it through the scholarship process.

The Foundation will also award many merit scholarships to incoming SUNY Broome freshmen for the Fall 2023 semester. These recipients will be recognized at awards ceremonies at their high schools.

Students interested in scholarships can learn more at SUNY Broome Scholarships. The application for the Second Chance Scholarship opens in the fall (typically in September), and the application for most SUNY Broome scholarships begins in the spring (typically in January).
