Do you have an idea for a club that we don’t currently have at SUNY Broome? Starting a new club is easy and only takes a few steps!
- Gather at least 5 total students to be members (yourself and 4 other people). Be sure you have their SUNY Broome email address! Talk with the faculty and staff of SUNY Broome for an advisor.
- Write a club constitution, indicating the unique purpose of the club. View a template of a club constitution (pdf).
- Submit a registration through The Swarm. When submitting, you’ll be asked to invite the interested members (please use their SUNY Broome Email Addresses) and to write the About section of your page.
The Vice President of Student Affairs will review the application. Student Assembly will vote on the recognition of the club.
The Director of Student Activities and Student Assembly must approve the group, and may deny establishment or categorization because:
- Similar groups already exist on campus.
- Inappropriate focus of the group.
- Existence of the group unduly burdening/marginalizing other SUNY Broome students.
Looking to get interest before moving forward? Talk with Student Activities about hosting an Information Meeting to help get members for your new club!
Should Student Assembly approve recognition, clubs can work with Student Activities on scheduling meetings and holding events!
For any assistance, please feel free to contact Student Activities! You can email studentactivities@sunybroome.edu for any questions.
