SUNY Broome’s Hornet Academy continues for its second year, offering middle school students hands-on opportunities to explore potential career paths.
Over four weekends this fall, students from Chenango Valley, Maine-Endwell, Susquehanna Valley, and Windsor attended sessions on the SUNY Broome campus to learn about biology, chemistry, civil engineering, culinary, dental hygiene, earth science, entrepreneurship, health studies, hospitality and event management, linework, and sound effects.
Said Danielle Britton, SUNY Broome’s Director of Training, Education and Workforce Development, “We appreciate faculty and staff taking time out of their weekends to help middle school students learn about career options. Early exposure to potential paths in the workforce – and the academic and practical training required – helps students and their families make choices at the right time in their educational journeys.”
