Chemical Dependency Counseling Students Tour Helio Health

On Tuesday, April 15, 21 students from the SUNY Broome Chemical Dependency Counseling program visited Helio Health in Binghamton for an in-depth look at detox and inpatient treatment services.

The visit included a guided tour of the facility and conversations with clinical staff about the day-to-day operations and the vital role these services play in the recovery process. As part of Helio Health’s commitment to community education and harm reduction, all students left with a free NARCAN kit and training on how to use it in an emergency.

This hands-on experience is part of the program’s mission to connect classroom learning with real-world practice and to prepare students to be informed, compassionate, and effective professionals in the field of substance use counseling.
