SUNY Broome baseball player in game against Onondaga CC

Broome dropped their doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon with Onondaga CC by scores of 3-1 in game one and 13-6 in game two.

The Hornets watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover against the Lazers after they took the lead on a single in the first inning and tacked on a run in the fourth and sixth. Tyler Kopolow, Jaden Bongiorno and Tanner Russin each managed one hit to lead the Hornets. James Grausgruber took the loss for Broome, the righty went four and a third innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out five. Seth Zurbruegg came up big on the mound for Onondaga, he went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out thirteen.

Broome jumped on the host team in the top of the first inning, scoring 5 runs but could only manage one more run the rest of the game while Onondaga plated 13 runs. The Hornets collected twelve hits and the Lazers had thirteen in the high-scoring affair. Mitchell Taylor, Jacob Garey and Russin each racked up multiple hits in the game led by Taylor going 3-4 at the plate. Ethan Pastrick took the loss, the pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing nine runs on ten hits, striking out one and walking zero.

Broome will travel this Thursday to Dryden for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 pm against Tompkins Cortland CC.
