SUNY Broome mens baseball pitcher on the mound.

The Hornets battled the weather as well as the Lakers on Monday afternoon, falling 22-2 in the opener after five and 4-2 after six in the nightcap called due to daylight and field conditions.

Broome struggled through out the day defensively with 9 errors which allowed Finger Lakes to take both games. Game one saw the Hornets allow errors early which gave the Lakers the upper hand with 7 runs in the top of the first. The Hornets were able to squeeze across 2 runs on a couple of RBI singles by Trevor Dennison and Tyler Kopolow.

Game two was still plagued by errors but a strong outing on the mound by Thomas Ricci and Kacper Bielecki kept the Lakers to 4 runs. Battling the elements along with tough pitching, the Hornets were only able to get 2 runs across the plate. Kopolow hit a sacrifice fly in the second for the first run followed by a two out RBI single by Ethan Pastrick in the third for the second run.

Broome will travel to Herkimer this Thursday for a twin bill against the Generals with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 pm.
