The baseball team started the 2023 season in Canandaigua on Sunday with a doubleheader against Finger Lakes CC, dropping game one 16-2 and game two 16-6.
Bright spots on the day were the 2-5 spots in the order, combining for 10 out of the 13 hits the Hornets had on the day. Thomas Contrata went 4-5 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI’s. Trevor Dennison added 2 hits, a double and a triple with 3 runs scored and Joseph Miller added 3 hits with an RBI and 2 runs scored. On the mound Torin Lawrence had a very nice showing pitching 3 innings with 2 strikeouts.
The Hornets look to rebound Monday afternoon with another doubleheader against the Lakers beginning at 2:00 pm on the SUNY Broome campus.
