Students were invited to attend the Spring 2023 STEM Career Expo to learn more about local opportunities both during and after degree completion. Over ten local, professional companies were present at the STEM Career Expo looking to make lasting connections with SUNY Broome students, local school counselors, and faculty.
In addition, all seven SUNY Broome STEM departments were in attendance in order to build those same connections, as well as answer any questions and provide any needed guidance.

Businesses in attendance: D&R Technical Solutions, BAE Systems, Amphenol Military High Speed, Visions Federal Credit Union, McIntosh, Raymond, Advance Testing, Delta Engineers, Architects, & Surveyors, Mirabito, ICS, Tetra Tech Architects & Engineers, and C4V.
The one and half hour event had a large turnout of students as well as local high school counselors and SUNY Broome faculty and staff.
“The STEM Career Expo was very successful this spring semester!” Valerie Carneige, Chairperson of Career and Transfer Services at SUNY Broome. Ms. Carnegie played a vital role in the planning of the event along with Dr. Christine Martey-Ochola, Interim Dean of STEM; Dr. Erika Olenik, Staff Associate to the Deans of STEM and Health Sciences; and Stephanie Balunas, STEM Office Manager. “We had 12 local employers that attended this exciting event. Our students were able to talk to them about internship opportunities, employment opportunities, and also finding out more about each company,” Ms. Carnegie explained.
The STEM Career Expo is an annual spring event that students do NOT want to miss!
