CORONAVIRUS NEWS AND LOCAL ACTIONS

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Broome County Health Department Director Rebecca Kaufman announced today that county officials have learned of the second positive test result for Coronavirus (COVID-19) within Broome County.

The Governor has also requested a reduction of our overall on-campus presence by 75% or more. SUNY Broome continues to work on our ability to meet these additional directives. The Incident Management Team is working on guidance and logistics for further reduction. Departments should be considering which employees can feasibly work remotely, as well as critical business operations that must be performed.

UPDATES ON CAMPUS RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS

SUNY Broome Library: The Library will be closed on Saturday and Sunday March 21-22, 2020. The Library will be providing email and chat reference services to all students and faculty. If you need immediate research assistance, please go to the Library web site at http://www.sunybroome.edu/library/ and click on “Help” or the “Ask Us 24/7” tab on the right hand side of the page. Also, you can email the Reference Desk at reference@sunybroome.edu, and a Reference Librarian from SUNY Broome will assist you.

Student Support Service Contacts: Currently, all student support offices remain open for students to access services in-person during normal operating hours. However, we understand that not all students are able to come to campus during this time. The Coronavirus Response – Student Resources Page has been created to help navigate the various student support services SUNY Broome has to offer at this time.

REMINDERS FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Campus officers, not unlike other emergency responders dealing with calls during these times, may take additional precautionary measures. Please read more about local response here: https://wbng.com/2020/03/19/9-1-1-dispatchers-and-first-responders-following-guidelines-amid-pandemic/
