Student Awards Recognition Reception

The SUNY Broome Foundation will hold its Student Awards Recognition Reception (commonly referred to as the Scholarship Reception) on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at SUNY Broome’s Ice Center.

The Foundation will award more than 300 merit-based scholarships and recognize more than 350 students during the event. These scholarship awards usually range from $500 to full tuition coverage.

Students interested in scholarships can learn more at SUNY Broome Scholarships. The application for the Second Chance Scholarship opens in the fall (typically in September), and the application for most SUNY Broome scholarships begins in the spring (typically in January).

Presidential Honors Scholarship Reception 2025

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., SUNY Broome will host a reception honoring the 2025 recipients of the Presidential Honors Scholarship at the SUNY Broome Culinary & Event Center.

PHS recipients are among the best and brightest in the area, graduating in the top 10% of their class. PHS scholars are selected for their academic achievements and their community involvement through activities such as tutoring, volunteering, club participation, athletics, and more. SUNY Broome believes that they demonstrate significant potential to excel inside and outside the college classroom, become engaged in campus-related activities, and emerge as student leaders.

The scholarship, funded by generous donors, covers a PHS student’s full tuition for up to four consecutive semesters — i.e. two years — at SUNY Broome.

The application for next year’s Presidential Honors Scholarship opens in Spring 2026, typically in January. Graduating Broome or Tioga County high school seniors who are interested in PHS should contact SUNY Broome’s Admissions Office or visit the scholarship website.
