Webinar: Students with Autism: Strategies for Inclusion, Engagement & Success
March 23 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Overview
Each year, an increasing number of students with a diagnosis of autism, executive functioning disorders, and other nonverbal learning disabilities are coming to our campuses. They often face academic, social, behavioral and medical challenges, all of which may impact their ability to thrive as college students. While these issues are more typically the purview of counseling and disabilities offices, this webinar is designed for all professionals seeking strategies for working effectively with these students.
Objectives
- Attain increased familiarity with autism and related diagnoses and common characteristics
- Develop increased understanding of academic strategies most commonly used by disability services staff
- Explore use of this knowledge to plan programs and services that will be more inclusive of autistic students
- Develop increased confidence to interact with autistic students one-on-one
