SUNY Broome’s A to Z Players Present Lauren Gunderson’s Peter Pan

The SUNY Broome A to Z Players are proud to present their fall production: Peter Pan and Wendy. Written by Lauren Gunderson, the show seeks to bring new voices and fresh perspectives to the original joy of J. M. Barrie’s classic tale.
With all the whimsy and wonder of childhood, this production of Peter Pan and Wendy explores themes of identity, friendship, and the ultimate power of stories. Written by the most produced playwright in the United States (for several years’ running), this reimagining of Peter Pan challenges some aspects of the original story; Wendy adores the sciences instead of motherhood, Tiger Lily is given a much larger share of the story, and Peter Pan is more like Hook than he realizes. “It is a reimagining of this classic tale that is exuberant and fantastic,” says playwright Lauren Gunderson. “We wanted to reframe it, to re-explore it for a modern audience, a feminist audience, a diverse audience, something that can retain what is joyful and puckish about the original but really bring in a new wave of interest and do something fresh and exciting with it.”
This production features a cast made up of some of SUNY Broome’s most talented student actors: Karmen Miller as Peter Pan, Elizabeth Harley as Wendy Darling, Kayla Kauchis as Tinkerbell, Evelyn Barron as Tiger Lily, James Talbert as Captain Hook/Mr. Darling, Nyx Marshfield as Smee, Rose Plummer as John Darling, Anthony Mazzati as Michael Darling, and Maggie Hoequist as Mrs. Darling. Lost Boys and Pirates will be portrayed Casey Benavente, Edwin A. Estrada, Angel Herndon, Rania Mathias, Juniper Moss, Elliot Pettingill, and Elizabeth Tuttle. The Director is Mary E. Donnelly.
Sean Haggerty is the Assistant Director, and Rain Pilgrim and Covany Skinner are the Stage Managers. Gunnar Rambo is the Technical Coordinator.
