SUNY Broome Celebrates the Holiday with the return of “Yours Truly, Jack Frost” on YouTube

December 21, 2022

Yours Truly, Jack Frost

The children’s holiday show returns December 21 to January 5 on SUNY Broome’s YouTube page!

Yours Truly, Jack Frost by Tim Kelly is returning to entertain children of all ages. The 30 minute play was the first ever virtual SUNYBROOME theater production from the winter of 2020/2021.

The Department of Music and Theater Arts invites everyone with children to tune into the show which will be available free on the college’s YouTube page from 7:00 am  Wednesday, December 21 until Thursday, January 5 at 4:00 pm. And tell everyone you know.

Originally written for children 7 to 10 years old, it is a sparkling story full of intrigue, interesting characters and Frostbite, a dog that talks! The story involves the old-fashioned Jack Frost who provides all the frost for the holiday season, and the greedy businesswoman, Evelina Muggleworth, who wants to steal Jack’s secret frost formula and market it worldwide.

Created in the fall semester of 2020 when no live theater shows could happen, Pioneer Drama allowed Katherine Bacon to adapt the script from the original. The actors, director, and crew; everyone had to work from home. Our theater students were able to present this enchanting play while working from home on costumes, props, audio, makeup, lighting, etc. The play received glowing reviews from local teachers and school children during that difficult winter holiday.

BOCES promoted the show to all the regional schools to view for the holiday in their classrooms. The original play had been produced live a number of times and was always a hit on our campus with local children attending and staying long after to “interview” the characters.

View it on SUNY Broome’s YouTube Page (will go live at 7am on 12/21)
