If you ever thought you might run for political office, this workshop is for you. You will first hear what motivated citizens do to run for the NYS Legislature, county offices, mayor, and municipal trustees/council member. Then you will find out about the nuts and bolts of getting on the ballot, running a campaign, fundraising, and political advertising.
You will have a chance to speak with party officials.
Following the free lunch, there will be a session on how to prepare for public office, understanding budgets, and listening to citizens before and after the campaign. A special session, “Run Sister Run,” will address the why and how women should run for office. There is no cost for learning how to throw one’s hat into the ring.
Workshop facilitators will be Doug Garnar, Sharon Exley, and Carla Michalak.
