SUNY Broome Shared Governance is excited to host a Zoom professional development event regarding shared governance, presented by our FCCC colleagues representing SUNY and our fellow community college colleagues. We will also be collecting any questions you may have ahead of time in the registration form so they may be addressed throughout the presentation. We also plan to have time following the session for questions and discussion. View more information on FCCC and SUNY Shared Governance (we are in the process of updating the information with SUNY regarding SUNY Broome). We hope to bring you another session in spring 2022. The session for 12/13/21 will be recorded.

The overview will include the following topics:

  • Shared Governance 101 and How Campus Governance Connects to SUNY
  • Common Governance Structures
  • Unions vs. Governance and How to Create an Effective Governance Structure
  • How to Assess Your Governance Structure

About our Presenters:

Christy Woods serves as the FCCC President (she is in her third year in this role) and is in her 12th year with FCCC. She also serves on the SUNY Board of Trustees representing FCCC and she is a Professor of Mathematics at Monroe Community College.

Jeff Steele serves as his campus’s delegate to the FCCC, is the chair of the FCCC’s Governance committee, and has served a number of other roles in the past with the FCCC and on his own local campus governance body, including a number of years as its CGL. He is a Professor of History and Social Science at Herkimer County Community College.

Wendy Johnston serves as the FCCC Vice President and has served with FCCC for five years. She is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at SUNY Adirondack.
