Walls are boundaries constructed by man to divide and delineate space. Classroom walls delineate the space where learning occurs, but as educators we know that learning is a life-long quest that is not confined to place or space. This exhibit celebrates boundless learning: Learning without walls. Learning that is meant to connect cultures, ideas and spaces.
SUNY Broome has been a supporter of short term travel courses and field study for over 50 years. Through these experiences students have summited mountains, hiked with alligators, conducted fish inventories, snorkeled between two continental plates, watched theatre in The Round, built water filtration systems, provided dental health care, assisted in aquatic species studies, and so much more. Many alumni have gone on to local and regional success, sharing their passion for travel and learning with the greater community.
This exhibit focuses on students who have dared to go Beyond Classroom Walls to further their academic and personal growth.
The exhibit Runs from Nov 26 to Jan 28 during library hours in The Gallery at SUNY Broome
