Art 116 Painting Exhibit at Vestal Public Library

Join Professor David Zeggert’s ART 116: Beginning Painting students from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, May 6 as they celebrate the completion of their painting class and as part of the Community Arts Project, a First Friday event at the Vestal Public Library.

The exhibition features work created during the Spring 2022 semester focusing on the theme Out my Window. Out my Window represents what the student sees out their window, it’s an examination of what could be defined as our regular environment. In addition, it’s an exercise in how the concept of space is recorded and transformed. The process explores the core tenets of painting and picture making, the students explore options including employing a cartoon, grisaille, direct or indirect approach or a combination of several approaches. They also have the ability to revisit the concept or realize their original take on what they see out the window.

The exhibit is the result of the students’ hard work and dedication to the study of picture making, discovery and making paintings.
