Enroll now in the Battery Technician (BTECH) Labs at SUNY Broome!

This non-credit microcredential program offers hands-on, in-person training in battery technology. As part of the NENY Battery Technician Program, the labs cover key battery concepts like safety, voltaic cells, battery assembly and disassembly, and emerging technologies such as electric vehicles and solar panels. It is designed for those who want to advance in energy storage or electric vehicle careers.

Course Overview

The BTECH Labs are designed for students that are passionate about energy storage and battery technology, focusing on applied battery technologies from chemical and mechanical perspectives. As energy storage becomes critical to sectors like electric vehicles and renewable energy, this program equips you with relevant, hands-on skills.

The labs emphasize key battery principles through a practical learning approach. From exploring stoichiometric calculations to understanding how batteries are recycled, the program offers a well-rounded curriculum in energy storage systems.

  • Battery Pack Assembly (Nov 12)
  • Battery Cell Cycling (Nov 13)

Each session runs from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., making it ideal for both professionals and students seeking flexible scheduling.

Prerequisites

Before registering for the in-person labs, students must complete several online modules. These include introductory courses on battery types, functions, and energy storage systems. The required modules are accessible through the NENY Battery Academy website and cover essential topics before getting your hands dirty.
