women’s Track & Field team won the 2022 NJCAA Region III Track & Field Championship in their first year of competition, besting runner-up Hudson Valley CC.

The women’s Track & Field team won the 2022 NJCAA Region III Track & Field Championship in their first year of competition, besting runner-up Hudson Valley CC by 38 points. Broome finished in the top spot with 177 points followed by Hudson Valley CC (138), Mohawk Valley CC (118), Finger Lakes CC (67), Onondaga CC (31) and Herkimer College (24).

Megan Carden earned the Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Meet, the Vestal graduate had a hand in 62 of the Hornets 177 points. Carden had first place finishes in the heptathlon, long jump, javelin and the 4×100 relay as well as second place finishes in the high jump, shot put, 110 hurdles and the 4×400 relay. Melissa Carden came in first in the triple jump, and contributed to first place finishes in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. She also placed second in the heptathlon and the 400 meters finals. Claudia Chermak had second place finishes in the 800, 1,500 and 10,000 meter finals.

Broome will take their Region III Title to the National Championships held in Troy, NY next weekend, hosted by Hudson Valley CC.
