Broome saw four different athletes achieve All-American status, Aja Jackson, Melissa Carden, Megan Carden and Mariella Michitti.
The women’s Track & Field team came in 6th over the weekend at the 2023 NJCAA DIII Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Utica and hosted by Mohawk Valley CC. Broome saw four different athletes achieve All-American status, Aja Jackson, Melissa Carden, Megan Carden and Mariella Michitti.

Jackson was a three-time All-America and a National Champion in the 10,000m run with a time of 44:22.27 earning her First Team Track All-American. The freshman also received Honorable Mention Track All-American with her 3rd place finish in the 5,000m run and was part of the 4×400 relay team that also came in 3rd with a time of 4:17.77, again earning her Honorable Mention status.

Megan Carden earned Second Team Field All-American in the heptathlon, finishing 2nd with 3,357 points and Honorable Mention Relay All-American in the 4×400.

Melissa Carden received Honorable Mention Field All-American honors for her 3rd place finish in the triple jump at 10.8m as well Honorable Mention Relay All-American in the 4×400.

Mariella Michitti earned Honorable Mention status as a Track All-American in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.75, narrowly besting Melissa Carden with a time of 1:09.97, for a 3rd place finish. Michitti joined both Cardens and Jackson as and Honorable Mention Relay All-American in the 4×400.

Also making appearances on the podium were Claudia Chermak for her 6th place finish in the 10,000m run with a time of 47:56.20, Megan Carden’s 5th place finish in the javelin with a distance of 87’8″ and Melissa Carden’s 4th place finish in th400m hurdles.
