SUNY Broome Library

Our Library white board question in October was, “What election issues matter to you?” People noted democracy, economic issues, wars and foreign affairs, climate change, trans rights and abortion pro and con as important issues.

As the election approached, reasons for voting became the topic, and responses ranged from serious to humorous to cynical. One key quote was “When you feel like people are trying to ignore you, don’t shut up, speak louder*” which speaks to the importance of remaining civically and politically engaged even though the election is over. And that gives us the topic of our next library whiteboard question, “What can you do to be civically engaged after the election?”

*When checking for a source for the quote, Google’s AI Overview indicated that this is a bad policy. That may be all the more reason to speak up.
