Journaling

Week 5! One third of the way through the semester. This is a nice point in the semester to check in with yourself- how are you doing? What are you behind on? How are your classes? What is your stress level like? What is contributing to your stress level?

Simple ways to manage stress – take some time and get organized, prioritize your “to do” list, make sure you are getting enough sleep and drinking enough water and eating healthier foods, schedule breaks to have fun and relax – but if you are relaxing too much – set a timer an create a schedule so that you can still check off your “to do “ items and balance some time for YOU!

Wellness Wednesday out of the Counseling Corner:

Wellness is how YOU define it for YOU!

We can all have our definitions of what is wellness – some pieces may line up with others’ ideas, but some may not. It is OK. Wellness is a personal thing.

In continuing with the theme and activity from Mindful Monday – lets identify some things that add up to your idea of wellness – Some things that fit into the following: your heart, your body, your mind and your sense of connectedness.

Take out a piece of paper and write down those 4 items/areas of wellness.

Now under each of these items – write down 2-5 things/action items that you can do, or that you like to do that help you feel your best in each of those areas.

For example- Heart: some may find reaching out to friends and family who they care about – a simple text, a walk with a friend, time spent together over a cup of coffee. This may fill your heart.

Write it down – make a plan! Keep this plan close by and handy so that you can put it into action. Make it a point to do at least 1 of the items on your plan each week – each day would be great, but we know that life is busy and sometimes weekly is the only attainable time frame.
