Welcome SUNY Broome’s Newest Hornet
Mr. Marquis Bennett
Associate Vice President & Dean of Students
Marquis joins the Hive from SUNY Morrisville where he served as Director of Educational Opportunity and Special Programs for the past seven years. He has also worked in the Penn State system as Associate Director of Student Services and Engagement as well as Rowan University; all experiences that have provided direct engagement in areas of responsibility. He has conducted various presentations and workshops on topics focusing on student success, diversity-equity-inclusion, communication skills and Title IX related topics.
Beyond his tangible work experiences, during the interviews, he was found to be very personable, knowledgeable, and energetic with a philosophy grounded in student success.
Marquis joins the Division with oversight and leadership responsibility for the Dean of Students Office, Student Activities, Judicial Affairs, Multicultural Programs, Wellness-Counseling and Health Services, and Family Empowerment. He will also serve as the Title IX Coordinator and 504 Compliance Officer.
Originally from Campton, New Jersey, Marquis completed his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Rowan University and master’s in Higher Education Administration from Rowan as well. He is currently finishing his degree requirements for a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State University. Marquis is married to Crystal, a licensed Social Worker. They are the proud parents of 4 adorable children.
The Division of Student Affairs and Development looks forward to having Marquis on the team.
The Dean of Students Office is located in Old Sciences on the second floor.
There will be welcoming activities for the community to meet Marquis. Watch for notices!
