As additional information is received regarding changes to Flexible Spending Accounts and HRAs with regard to the current health crisis, Seiba is doing their best to be sure to pass along this information.

When the CARES Act was signed into law on 3/27/20, included in that new law were several changes regarding expenses that are considered eligible for FSAs, and HRAs.

The new law has lifted the prescription requirement for over-the-counter medicines and drugs, and has classified menstrual products as new eligible expenses. Over-the-counter medicines and drugs are now considered an eligible expense without any supporting documentation requirements. This does not apply to vitamins/minerals, herbs or supplements.

Those items continue to require a letter of medical necessity in order to be eligible. See the attached information sheet that details those changes.
