Exploring The Four Pivots – Reimagining Campus Culture & Social Justice Together
Looking to recharge, connect with colleagues, and rethink how we support ourselves and our students? Join us for our upcoming Brown Bag Lunch & Learn series, where we’ll dive into Dr. Shawn Ginwright’s The Four Pivots — one chapter (and one conversation) at a time.
These 50-minute sessions are casual, come-as-you-are gatherings designed to keep the energy of our Spring 2025 book club alive and growing. Didn’t read the book? No problem! Everyone is welcome — whether you joined the book club or want to join the conversation now.
Come to one, come to all! Bring your lunch, your thoughts, and your curiosity. We’d love to have you with us.

Pivot One: From Lens to Mirror
Date: Wednesday, October 8
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Location: TRC (LI 101)
Let’s shift our gaze inward. Instead of focusing solely on external challenges (like student motivation or policy roadblocks), we’ll reflect on our own well-being, biases, and roles in shaping campus culture. We’ll chat about burnout, self-care, and small, realistic practices to help us feel more balanced and grounded.

Pivot Two: From Transactional to Transformative Relationships
Date: Wednesday, October 15
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Location: TRC (LI 101)
What if our work relationships were about more than just getting things done? In this session, we’ll explore how to build trust and truly connect with students and colleagues. Let’s talk about what it means to be a navigator and advocate in our campus community.
Pivot Three: From Problem to Possibility
Date: Wednesday, October 29
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Location: TRC (LI 101)
Tired of focusing on what’s broken? Us too. Let’s shift gears and celebrate what’s working. We’ll reflect on past successes and brainstorm ways to build on that momentum to shape a more just, equitable, and joyful campus culture.
Pivot Four: From Hustle to Flow
Date: Wednesday, November 5
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Location: TRC (LI 101)
Can we slow down and make an impact? (Spoiler: yes.) In this final session, we’ll talk about stepping out of the hustle mindset and into a more sustainable flow. Let’s explore how rest, presence, and intention can fuel a healthier, more human campus environment.
