The Community’s College was abuzz all weekend long thanks to a non-stop series of events including Spring Open House, SUNY Broome’s Alumni Reunion, and the 41st Annual Children’s Fair.

Over 650 prospective students and their families arrived at the Ice Center on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Attendees met with faculty and staff, toured the campus, and learned more about paying for college, participating in collegiate athletics, and accessing student support services.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted by the welcoming presence of Dr. Carol A. Ross-Scott, Vice President for Student Development & Chief Diversity Officer. “Today we open our doors as the Community’s College and give students and their families a sneak peek at Hornet life,” shared Dr. Ross-Scott.

In conjunction with Spring Open House, SUNY Broome’s Foundation hosted their annual Alumni Weekend. College alumni were treated to a welcome mixer at the Culinary & Event Center, followed by a day to explore the campus, participate in an alumni basketball game, and partake in the annual spiedie picnic. Attendees were also encouraged to visit the celebration of life exhibit honoring Emeritus Professor Robert Keller in the Gallery @ SUNY Broome. Robert A. Keller was the primary founder of and long-time professor in what was then the Art and Interior Design Department.

Sunday morning started early for a collection of SUNY Broome’s faculty, staff, and administrators who kindly represented the College at the American Heart Association Walk, walking on behalf of loved ones in honor of heart health awareness.

Then the kiddos of the Southern Tier descended on the campus to attend the 41st Annual Children’s Fair. Children of all ages were invited to participate in hands-on, sensory activities, fun and fitness classes, and leave with a copy of All Are Welcome to read with their families.

Stay tuned for photos and videos from this weekend’s events!
