“The King Stag,” SUNY Broome Theater’s spring production was a great success with audiences.

Three evenings of more than 250 audience members witnessed this rarely performed commedia dell’arte theater. Our rich rendition of this three centuries-old play included live music by Will Westcott, period costumes, a giant parrot puppet, masks and lots of magic! Director Katherine Bacon also acted in a small role alongside the students.

Carlo Gozzi wrote this classic play in the mid-1700s. He was also the author of plays that inspired the famous Puccini opera “Turandot” and the famous Prokofiev opera “The Love For Three Oranges.”
