SUNY Broome’s administration is pleased to share that our proposed $57,071,772 operating budget for fiscal year 2024-25 was approved by the College’s Board of Trustees on June 20, 2024. The new fiscal year starts on September 1, 2024.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar recommended a 2% increase in County funding support, totaling $7,707,399, which the Broome County Legislature approved. We are grateful for this increase in support from the county. State aid funding remains flat at approximately $13 million, which is about 24% of the budget, and student tuition is approximately $16.6 million or about 31% of the budget. Student tuition will increase by 3.5% or $192 for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, totaling $5,664.
Payroll and fringe benefits comprise more than 82% of the annual budget with more than 40% invested in faculty instruction. The College ranks 6th lowest out of the 30 SUNY community colleges in the general administration functional area.
While our work continues to ensure that SUNY Broome’s budget is balanced, we are making positive progress and looking to the future of the institution with optimism. We are committed to realigning the College’s resources to better serve our students by deploying funds in support of new initiatives that will positively impact enrollment and student success.
