SUNY Broome held its sixth annual Move-In Day on Saturday, August 24. Residential students moved in to the college’s residence hall, the Student Village, with the help of volunteers from the campus community. A total of 360 students live in the residence hall.
“On behalf of the entire SUNY Broome community, I offer a warm welcome to our resident students who help make campus such a vibrant place to live and learn,” said SUNY Broome President Kevin E. Drumm.
The $18.2 million Student Village opened for the first time in Fall 2014 and continues to draw interest from prospective students. Once beds are filled, students are entered onto a wait list for future openings. The facility is owned by the nonprofit BCC Housing Development Corporation, which was created by the Broome Community College Foundation. State law prohibits community colleges from owning their own residence halls.
SUNY Broome’s Housing Office is headed by director Amy Zieziula. Two Residence Directors – Alexandria Donkor and Pamela Alvarez – live in the building, and oversee 10 Resident Assistants who live on each floor.
Move-In Day is also the start of Welcome Week, a series of events for both residential and commuter students. The week will feature information booths and other help to get students on track for the semester as well as a variety of fun activities.

Amenities: State-of-the-art building with fully furnished suites that each include four bedrooms, a full kitchen and full bathrooms. The building also has a fitness center, a classroom, computer labs, laundry rooms on each floor, a Skype lounge, quiet study rooms and a student lounge.
