Enrollment

Curious about the student community at SUNY Broome? Total enrollment stands at 5,359, which includes concurrently enrolled students. Of those, 3,065 (about 59.9% of the total) are pursuing degrees or certificates. In addition, 2,019 learners participate in Fast Forward, giving many high school students an early taste of college-level coursework.

Student Outcomes

Wonder how well students fare once they enroll? In 2023–2024, SUNY Broome awarded 762 total degrees to 733 graduates. The Fall 2021 cohort boasts a 23.8% three-year graduation rate, and Pell recipients in that same group achieved a 20.0% rate. Transfer remains a popular pathway too— of the 2023–2024 graduates, 31.5% decided to continue their education elsewhere, and that number climbs to nearly 49.9% for those earning Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees.

Graduation Rates

If you’re curious about student success, consider the Fall 2021 cohort of first-time, full-time students. Of the 1,072 who enrolled, 255 completed their studies within three years, resulting in a 23.8% three-year graduation rate. Among these students, 581 were Pell Grant recipients, with 117 graduating (20% three-year rate), showing how financial support can influence academic outcomes.

Foundation Awards

In 2023–2024, SUNY Broome foundation invested over $2.17 million overall — encompassing grants-in-aid, scholarships, capital projects, and departmental support. The College has a strong partner in the Foundation, who provide us with funding to support our students and the numerous initiatives at the College to enhance the learning and working environment.

Financial Aid

During the same period, students received a combined total of approximately $19.68 million in Pell Grants and direct loans, with 1,890 Pell recipients making up about 51% of the student population. The College provides its students with funding to make their educational pursuits possible.

Faculty and Instruction

Have you wondered about the number of faculty experts we have at the College and our class sizes? There are 274 full-time faculty members and 167 adjuncts, collectively delivering thousands of instructional hours. With a student-to-class section ratio of 15:1 (excluding Fast Forward sections), students benefit from closer faculty-student connections, leading to more enriching learning experiences.

Course Modalities

Curious about the modalities of courses that are offered at SUNY Broome? In Fall 2023, courses broke down into 53.7% traditional, 35.9% online, 8.4% blended, and 2% Hyflex. Looking ahead to Fall 2024, these options shift slightly to 50.6% face-to-face, 38.1% online, 10.1% blended, and 1.3% Hyflex — perfect for students who crave flexibility in how and when they learn.

Non-Credit Instruction and Workforce Development

In 2023–2024, SUNY Broome non-credit programs drew nearly 5,000 participants for personal development, remedial coursework, and industry training. Meanwhile, 14 workforce grants provided support to 49 local companies, reflecting the institution’s strong commitment to community engagement and career growth.
