Since its inception in 2007, 226 of the best and brightest students from the Southern Tier have been awarded full-tuition Presidential Honors Scholarships. These local scholars were selected based on their academic excellence, extracurricular engagement, and community service.
As PHS recipients, each student is required to complete campus-based service hours. Through these acts of volunteerism, PHS students will engage with the SUNY Broome community to teach and learn from their fellow classmates and alumni.
Hosted by the SUNY Broome Foundation, the Presidential Honors Scholarship Reception featured remarks and well-wishes from a selection of the scholarship’s generous donors and champions.
Special speakers included:
- Alex Racketa: President – SUNY Broome Foundation Board of Directors
- Amanda McIntyre: Executive Director – The Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation
- Gerald E. Putman: Executive Director – Dr. G. Clifford & Florence B. Decker Foundation
- Alexandra Pourby (BUBA ‘18) – Past Presidential Honors Scholar
- Dr. Tony D. Hawkins – President of SUNY Broome Community College
