The campus community celebrated an extra special milestone during the 2024 “Move-In Day” festivities. Saturday, August 24, 2024, marked the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the Student Village, SUNY Broome’s on-campus residence hall.

“Move-In Day” was facilitated through a collaboration between the Student Development and Diversity Division, the Office of Public Safety, and a team of over 50 faculty, staff, and student volunteers.

The 275 new residents of the Student Village are divided amongst 60 apartment-style suites between four floors. Resident Assistants Hiba Khan, Faith Gyasi, and Becky Semmel were on hand to welcome their new neighbors and offer advice for a successful year.

“Attend as many on-campus and Student Village events as possible,” suggested Khan. “These events are designed to help you make connections and feel more comfortable and engaged with student life at SUNY Broome.”

In addition to celebrating the Student Village’s 10th Anniversary with cake and custom SUNY Broome macaroons, new residents, their families, and “Move-In Day” volunteers were treated to a picnic lunch from the College’s community partner, Central Baptist Church. For the past decade, members of the Central Baptist Church have prepared thousands of hotdogs, bagged snacks, fresh baked goods, and drinks to offer their personal welcome and well-wishes to SUNY Broome’s newest students.
