We are thrilled to announce that SUNY Broome has been awarded a nearly $3 million federal grant to bolster student success and career preparation efforts at our community’s college.
The five-year, $2,736,895 award comes through the federal Title III-A Strengthening Institutions Program. The project, Academic Innovation for Student Momentum: AI-Ready Teaching, Online Course Quality, and Career Pathway Navigation will run from Jan. 1, 2027 to Dec. 31, 2031.
“These funds will accelerate and expand the great work that’s already underway to ensure that every student has the support they need to succeed at SUNY Broome,” Penny Kelly, Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Broome, said. “By strengthening teaching and learning, expanding student support and connecting academic programs more directly to career opportunities, we can help more students persist, complete their programs and achieve their goals.”
Federal Title III-A grants support eligible institutions in strengthening their academic programs, institutional capacity and student outcomes. The competitive program requires colleges to identify challenges facing their students, develop strategies to address those challenges and measure the impact of their work.
At SUNY Broome, the grant will build on existing efforts in student support, online learning, faculty development, workforce preparation, SUNY Reconnect and the responsible use of AI.
